Bluevoyant has appointed John Hernandez as its next CEO. He takes over the role from co-founder James Rosenthal, who will serve as the Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors. Rosenthal has overseen the growth of Bluevoyant to become a leader in Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), and Digital Risk Protection (DRP), and cyber defence-related professional services. The firm has over 600 employees with offices worldwide.Hernandez will now lead the company’s global strategy, innovation, and operations. His focus will be on scaling the business further. Underpinned by an AI-driven cybersecurity platform that helps customers evolve from a reactive to a proactive cybersecurity stance.
Rosenthal stated, “It has been an honour to lead such an innovative organisation from its inception to where it stands today. Together with our leadership team, employees, customers and partners, we’ve built something incredible that will only continue to grow.
“John’s experience scaling enterprise platforms and driving innovation makes him the right leader to guide BlueVoyant into its next phase of growth and market leadership. More importantly, he understands what our clients need from us, and what this team is capable of achieving.”
As Rosenthal takes on the role of Chairman of the Board, the current Chairman, Tom Glocer, co-founder, will transition to the role of Vice Chairman. Glocer added, “I am delighted to welcome John to the BlueVoyant team on behalf of the Board. His extensive cybersecurity and product development leadership experience uniquely positions him to guide BlueVoyant in our next chapter.
“I also want to express our gratitude to Jim for taking the company from an idea he and I discussed to a growth company well into nine figures.”
The next era for Bluevoyant
Bluevoyant already has over 1,000 clients across 45 countries and processes 38 million alerts daily. It continues to develop its service offerings, most recently announcing COMS for Purview. The BlueVoyant Continuous Optimisation for Microsoft Solutions (COMS) for Purview, is a comprehensive managed service. This enables organisations to achieve optimal outcomes from their Microsoft Purview investments.
With Hernandez at the helm, BlueVoyant will accelerate its transition to a unified, AI-powered platform. This platform integrates analytics with expert insights for real-time threat response. The company will enhance third-party risk management through continuous, automated monitoring, offering real-time visibility beyond traditional point-in-time assessments.
Who is John Hernandez?
Hernandez joins from Quest Software, where he was President and General Manager for the last three and a half years. He led Quest Software’s Microsoft Platform Management business. A team focused on security, identity, and data management solutions for Microsoft hybrid and cloud environments. He led the business unit, driving strong growth in both cloud and recurring revenue.
Prior to Quest, as EVP and General Manager of Genesys Multicloud, he helped transform a $1B business at Genesys to a cloud-agnostic, AI-driven platform. He was also CEO at Selligent Marketing Cloud for more than two years. He turned a regional player into a global SaaS leader, relaunching the company in 2018.
While Hernandex spent time at both Salesforce and IBM in leadership positions, he was at Cisco for over 12 years. There he rose from Director of Contact Centre Product Management to VP and GM Collaboration Market and solutions development. Hernandez graduated from Santa Clara University.
Hernandez commented, “I am excited to guide BlueVoyant into its next phase, especially as AI continues to increase the complexity of cyber threats. Cybersecurity is entering a new phase where speed, intelligence, and integration will define the winners.
“Organisations need to move beyond fragmented approaches and toward a more unified model that brings together detection, risk, and response. BlueVoyant is uniquely built for this moment, and I look forward to leveraging my extensive experience to help drive the innovation needed to protect our clients worldwide.”
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Bluevoyant has found an experienced leader to take over the helm. He has demonstrated through his career the ability to re-forge organisations where needed and will now look to make a difference at Bluevoyant. This is not his first role as CEO, and that experience should stand him in good stead. He also brings relationships with organisations such as Microsoft, as well as deep industry experience working with enterprises worldwide.
With Rosenthal remaining at the company as Chairman, it seems likely that Hernandez will lead an evolution, rather than a revolution at Bluevoyant. It will be interesting to see what that looks like and whether there are further changes in the leadership team.
