Target Opens 55th New Jersey Store in West Orange With CVS and Starbucks

A new Target opened at 235 Prospect Ave. in West Orange. That’s two days before the planned grand opening on March 29. The 150,000-square-foot building operates from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.

Shoppers can use drive-up, order pickup, and same-day delivery through Circle 360. West Orange residents get next-day delivery, too. Inside, you’ll find a CVS Pharmacy, a Starbucks Café, and an optical center.

Around 280 workers staff this location, company spokespeople said, per Patch. Jobs were still posted on Friday. Cashier, sales, security, and stock positions are open, plus a barista at the coffee shop. Workers earn $18 to $27 per hour.

A Kmart used to occupy this spot. Essex County turned the empty building into a vaccination center when COVID-19 hit.

Parts of the parking lot still have construction going on. Whole Foods and other shops share the space. West Orange Plaza started a multi-million-dollar makeover last year and signed three more businesses recently.

This is the chain’s 55th New Jersey location. Clifton, Fairfield, Kearny, Paramus, and Vauxhall have stores nearby. Jersey City got a new one this month as well.

West Orange’s site stocks produce, frozen items, and pantry goods, but it’s not a full grocery. Whole Foods sits close by. So does a ShopRite at Essex Green shopping center, just minutes down the road. Mount Pleasant Plaza in West Orange will get a Trader Joe’s soon.
