Berwick Police arrest man for hotel shooting and drugs

BERWICK, La. (KLFY) – Kelvin Moore, 28, of Patterson, was arrested on Thursday, August 7, 2025, following reports of gunfire at the Suburban Studios Hotel on U.S. Highway 90.

Moore faces charges including possession of Schedule I THC with intent to distribute, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

Officers from the Berwick Police Department responded to the incident after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they secured the area and evacuated the first floor of the hotel as a precaution.

During their investigation, officers detained an individual, later identified as Moore, and obtained search warrants to further examine the premises. A handgun and illegal narcotics were discovered in the hotel room.

Moore was subsequently taken into custody and booked into Berwick Jail with a bond set at $110,000. No injuries were reported during the incident.
