Riedel Communications To Provide Connectivity Integration For Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Riedel Communications will serve as the Official Connectivity Integration Provider for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, designing, installing and integrating the Games’ connectivity and communications infrastructure for the July 23-Aug. 2 event in Glasgow. The company also will be an Official Partner for Team Scotland.

Delivered through Riedel’s Managed Technology offering, the deployment is a turnkey program covering planning, implementation and live operations. Organizers say the approach emphasizes sustainability and inclusivity while supporting reliable data transfer, communications and spectator safety.

For the first time at the Commonwealth Games, Riedel will implement the Glasgow 2026 Games Integrated Network (GIN), powered by the company’s DIVA+ media backbone. The IP-based system unifies fiber infrastructure, wireless Easy5G extensions and centralized orchestration to carry communications, audio-visual signals and data. It can be controlled remotely and adapted in real time and includes cable management designed to reduce environmental impact.

Riedel will provide a unified intercom-and-radio system across competition venues and operational sites as part of the Games’ integrated communications strategy.

Venues will be linked via Riedel’s wide area network, transmitting live images to the Broadcast Operations Center for distribution by broadcast rights holders. Venue LANs will support operational connectivity, including Wi-Fi.

Riedel brings previous Commonwealth Games experience, having provided radio communications networks for Birmingham 2022 and Glasgow 2014 and managed the venue intercom project for the Gold Coast 2018 Games.

“It’s a real honor to support Glasgow 2026 and contribute to an event of this magnitude that brings people and communities together through sport,” said Jan Sander, Riedel senior account manager, multisport events. “As the Official Connectivity Integration Provider, we take the same approach to technology — bringing together networks, services and workflows through our Managed Technology approach and DIVA+ for seamless and reliable operations across the Games.”
