Walnut Street Fair Returns to Montclair on May 3 With 250 Vendors and Live Music

The Walnut Street Fair happens Sunday, May 3. It runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Walnut Street in Montclair. The Junior League of Montclair-Newark puts on this gathering, bringing more than 250 vendors and food trucks to the area.

Walnut Street shuts down from Grove Street to Forest Street. Optimum presents the event with the Junior League.

According to Montclair Local News, five groups will play on the Xfinity Main Stage. Miss Jolie starts things off from 11 a.m. to noon, then School of Rock performs from noon to 12:45 p.m. Jazz House plays from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Vanguard Theater Company takes over from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and School of Rock for Inclusion wraps up entertainment from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Local businesses, artisans, and groups will line the streets. More than 200 sellers show up with food, crafts, and things to buy.

The Junior League of Montclair-Newark strengthens Essex County communities, focusing on teaching kids, helping children read, supporting the arts, and building health and wellness for at-risk youth. They do this through hands-on projects and working with partners.

The fair lets people meet the group and find out about volunteering. Money raised supports their community projects.

Families can bring kids to activities at no cost: rain or shine, the festival goes on.

This street fair has become a tradition for residents. Last year’s event drew crowds to this same spot.
