Officials will use the money on Raskulinecz Road, Self Boulevard, and Germak Drive. Mayor Daniel J. Reiman pointed to truck traffic as the culprit behind crumbling pavement.
Reiman thanked Gov. Mikie Sherrill and NJDOT Commissioner Priya Jain. Both state dollars and town money will fund the work.
Commissioner Jain explained that NJDOT understands how transportation moves people and products. Her department backs freight projects that prioritize safe truck routes and restore aging roads.
“The completion of Carteret Borough’s project will help us achieve this goal and pursue a transportation strategy that continues to provide mobility in our state without increasing the tax burden on New Jersey residents,” Jain said, according to RLS Media.
All three streets sit close to the New Jersey Turnpike Exit 12. Warehouses and facilities from P.C. Richard & Son, Virginia Dare, and DSV occupy the zone.
NJDOT’s Local Freight Impact Fund backs projects that boost economic growth and strengthen transportation options statewide. The program fixes roads without burdening taxpayers.
West Carteret’s industrial zone relies on these streets every day. Trucks rumble down the routes to reach warehouses and distribution centers.
Reiman praised the timely infusion of cash. Years of pounding from heavy vehicles left the roads battered, and the rebuilding will restore them.
