It’s set menus at affordable prices at some of New Orleans’ best restaurants, and WGNO is featuring some of the participating spots, including Chapter IV. It’s the newest restaurant for the Chase family.
Of course, when we say the “Chase family,” we are talking about the New Orleans Culinary Legacy Chef Leah Chase. Chef Dook Chase, her grandson, and his wife Gretchen are the owners of Chapter IV. They opened the spot in January 2023 at 1301 Gravier St. The name of the restaurant comes from Dook Chase, being the fourth generation of his family. Chapter IV is also the fourth restaurant under his operation.
Gretchen Chase talked to WGNO’s Amy Russo about what’s on their Coolinary menu this year.
“We are featuring a Monday through Friday lunch option for $28,” said Gretchen Chase. “That is going to be a watermelon and beet salad, then our famous fish and grits, which is fried farmer’s catfish served over our creamy Creole grits topped with crawfish andouille maque choux. Then, for Saturday and Sundays, we are featuring a brunch special, which is a watermelon and beet salad. Your second course will be a lemon rosemary airline chicken breast served with asparagus and ribbon potatoes. And for your third course, a Creole cream cheesecake.”
The atmosphere is described as casual, but elevated. Gretchen Chase says she wanted guests to feel like they’re having a dining experience, but get some food that you’d eat at home as well.
