Alexandria police intensify “Click It or Ticket” campaign

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — The Alexandria Police Department will take part in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign from May 19 through June 1, officials announced Tuesday.

The campaign aims to boost seat belt usage, reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities, and increase public awareness of the life-saving benefits of buckling up. During the two-week effort, Alexandria officers will be out in full force enforcing seat belt laws throughout the city.

“Wearing a seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself on the road,” said Police Chief Chad Gremillion. “Through education and enforcement, we hope to encourage all drivers and passengers to buckle up—every seat, every trip.”

The department encourages all residents to wear their seat belts consistently and ensure everyone in their vehicle does the same.
