Yorktown man convicted after molesting two children
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — A Yorktown man was convicted on Wednesday of molesting two children on separate occasions.

According to a news release from the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office, 60-year-old Charles Wallace was convicted of five counts of child molesting, one of which was a Class A felony and the four others being a Class C felony.

In March 2018, Wallace was charged after he reportedly admitted to having sexual encounters with two minors.

On March 5, 2018, court documents indicate that officials interviewed a 10-year-old who told law enforcement that Wallace reportedly forced her to touch him in a sexual manner, actions that Wallace admitted to.

Later that day, law enforcement also interviewed a 13-year-old who made similar allegations against Wallace. The court documents said that Wallace fondled the teen on multiple occasions, something that Wallace admitted to as well.

“We must protect those who cannot protect themselves,” Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hoffman said in the release. “It is very fitting that a jury composed of 12 members of the community found this defendant guilty in April – Child Abuse Prevention Month.”

The release said that Wallace will be sentenced on June 9. A Class A felony is punishable by 20-50 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. A Class C felony is punishable by 2-8 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
