Eunice Fire Department were dispatched Sunday, March 2. at approximately 3 p.m. when the bakery was engulfed in flames. No one was inside the building when the fire started, authorities said.
Firemen said the fire lasted eight hours and the building is considered a total loss.
Ray’s Bakery has been a long cherished Eunice business for over 60 years. Residents are sadden the bakery will not be serving their well known donuts, pastries, and bread.
Dwight Jodon, Eunice resident, reflects on the lost of the bakery and expresses how it was a landmark lost.
“Such a sad scene, as practically everyone in Eunice has a story, some dating back a few generations, about Ray’s.” said Jodon, “For 66 years, Rays Bakery has been part of what makes Eunice…Eunice.”
The fire still remains under investigation.
