There’s another ticking clock too. A $50,000 Powerball ticket sold at D’Latinos Beauty Supply on Bergenline Avenue in West New York expires even sooner — May 3. That winner has less than two weeks.
Lottery officials are urging everyone to dig through old tickets. Check your glove compartment. Search your wallet. Look in that junk drawer where random receipts pile up.
The official NJ Lottery mobile app can scan tickets in seconds. There’s also an online checker for manual verification. Anyone who shopped near these locations last spring should take a hard look at what they might’ve tucked away and forgotten.
Once these dates pass, the money doesn’t get redistributed or saved for later. It’s just lost. State officials stress this point: after 365 days, unclaimed winnings disappear completely.
