According to North Jersey.com, Hawthorne kicks things off with its 34th Annual Cel-Earth-Bration. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18 at Hawthorne High School. Millburn hosts another gathering that same afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Bauer Community Center with games, prizes, and presentations for families.
April 22 brings a two-hour walk through DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst. The Bergen County Audubon Society leads the 10 a.m. trek. Walkers can explore 3.5 miles of trails and gardens while spotting birds against the New York City skyline. Meanwhile, Rockaway Township seeks volunteers to plant 100 native species at Camp Hudsonia starting at 9 a.m. Other events include:
Passaic
Passaic County stages its 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration April 25. The free event at Rifle Camp Park in Woodland Park lasts from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bird watchers can join an 8 a.m. hike at Garret Mountain Reservation. Little Falls Girl Scouts Troop 96529 will tackle a park cleanup at 10 a.m. A meditation walk begins at 11, followed by a tree-planting ceremony at noon. Artist James Sisti from Hike & Draw teaches a Nature Journaling Workshop at 12:30 p.m. Kids can try Animal Tracks & Traces, examine Animal Skins & Skulls, navigate Bird Hurdles, or study pond life with park rangers.
Montclair
Montclair presents its third annual Earth Fest on South Park Street, April 26, from noon to 4 p.m. Attendees will find sustainable businesses, games, electric vehicles, and energy-efficient appliances on display. The Northeast Earth Coalition also arranges a Crane Park Clean-Up on April 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Glenridge and Greenwood avenues.
Ridgewood
Ridgewood’s annual Daffodil Festival launches at noon on April 26 at Van Neste Square. This year’s theme centers on sustainable yards and conservation practices. Sessions will address electric landscaping equipment, pollinators, natural gardens, backyard composting, food waste recycling, and rain gardens. The Daffy Dog Fun Costume Parade leads the festivities, along with educational displays, crafts, vendors, a petting zoo, music by Blue Plate Special, and entertainment from the Recycling Magician.
Wayne
Wayne schedules the Celebration of the Earth 2026 for May 3, running from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Passaic County Technical Institute. Glen Ridge wraps up the season with an Arts + Eco-Fair May 16 on Ridgewood Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
