Local woman injured in Eunice train collision
EUNICE, La. (KLFY) — A driver is hospitalized after a collision with a train in Eunice this morning.

Eunice Police responded to a train and passenger vehicle collision on North 12th Street on Oct. 26 at approximately 8:52 AM.

Investigation revealed the that the driver of the vehicle was southbound on North 12th Street, and the Union Pacific train was eastbound on the tracks.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and yield to the train prior to crossing the tracks which caused the train to collide into the passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle, officials said.

EMS arrived on scene to render medical attention to the driver. The driver was eventually transported to a Lafayette hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The driver is in critical condition, but stable, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
