Pedestrian hit, killed on East Bay freeway

(KRON) — A pedestrian died after they were hit by multiple vehicles on Interstate 580 in Pleasanton Thursday.

The person was hit on the eastbound side of I-580, east of Foothill Road at about 8:58 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the pedestrian ran into the lanes of traffic and was struck by a passing vehicle,” CHP said. “After the initial impact, the pedestrian came to rest in the traffic lanes and is believed to have been subsequently struck by multiple vehicles.”
