A crisp autumn chill was in the air Wednesday morning. The official 48 degree low at O’Hare was the coolest morning at the site in more than a month since a 48 degree low back on September 6.

Several inland locations even dropped to the upper 30s and low 40s.

Daytime highs moderated slightly but only peaked in the middle 60s at both major airports. The official 64-degrees at O’Hare was the coolest afternoon high temperature in more than four months, since 64 degrees back on May 31, despite logging more than half the day’s possible sunshine.

Wednesday U.S. high temperatures and departure from normal

Temperature rebound underway across portions of the northern Plains with highs surging back near 80-degrees in some areas,  a level 10-15 degrees above normal. Meantime, highs closer to normal across the Great Lakes. 

Wednesday allergy count  

Traditionally, the Loyola Medicine Allergy Count season has ended on September 30. However, due to elevated allergen levels this year, they will continue providing weekly updates every Wednesday until the first frost.

Mold sufferers will notice that levels continue to be rather high and uncomfortable.
