Tyler Robinson to appear virtually at upcoming hearing

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect accused of shooting and killing conservative political activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, will appear virtually at his upcoming hearing on Monday, Sept. 29, according to the Utah County Attorney’s Office.

“Tyler Robinson will not appear in person at the waiver hearing scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. MDT,” a press release from the attorney’s office states. “Instead, he will participate virtually from the Utah County Jail.”

On Wednesday, the Utah County Commission approved a contract to appoint Attorney Kathryn Nester to represent Tyler Robinson. Robinson was formally charged on September 15 with aggravated murder (a capital felony) with a victim targeting enhancement and violent offense committed in the presence of a child aggravating factor.

Utah County Attorney Jeffrey S. Gray has issued a Notice of Intent to seek the Death Penalty against Robinson.
