Mario to hold special meet and greet at San Francisco Nintendo store

(KRON) — Forty years ago, the video game phenomenon Super Mario Bros launched and became one of the biggest video game franchises in history. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, Mario himself will be holding a meet and greet this weekend at the Nintendo store in downtown San Francisco.

Fans of Mario can meet him and snap a picture with him during these time slots:

  • Saturday, Sept. 20: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 21: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Nintendo said the meet and greet is free, and entry is first come, first served.

The Nintendo store in Union Square opened in May. The grand opening was met with large crowds in San Francisco’s downtown area, which has decreased through the years amid an exodus of businesses.

The San Francisco location is one of two in the United States — the other in New York. The other three Nintendo store locations are in Japan.
