The meet and greet is available only for fans who pre-ordered Wang’s upcoming album “MAGICMAN 2” in person at the Amoeba store in San Francisco. Pre-orders began on July 2, and fans were given a wristband for the meet and greet.
The event is sold out as the meet and greet has reached its capacity, according to Amoeba, which calls itself “The World’s Largest Independent Record Store.” Wang is only taking pictures with fans and will not be signing autographs, Amoeba said. Fans can get a solo picture with the artist or in a group with their friends.
Wang, who is from Hong Kong but moved to Korea as a teenager, is one of the world’s most famous musicians from Asia, boasting more than 33 million Instagram followers and another 8 million on X.
He made history as the first Chinese artist to perform at Coachella, according to Amoeba.
Wang was recently in San Francisco for NBA All-Star weekend in February as an ambassador for Jordan/Nike. He performed in 2023 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for his Magic Man World Tour.
“MAGICMAN 2” is set to be released on streaming platforms at 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, July 17.
Wang, 31, broke into the music industry in 2014 as a member of K-pop boy band Got7 under JYP Entertainment. He has since broken off as a solo artist under 88Rising and performed at Coachella in 2022 and 2023. Wang also founded Team Wang, a music label that has the Chinese hip-hop group PanThePack, of which he is a member alongside Karencici, J. Sheon and ICE.
