Guests will be treated to the first live Tesla Coil demonstration before it becomes a centerpiece of Sci-Port’s Spooky Science Month in October.
Sci-Port staff spent months looking for the right Tesla Coil to resume the work done in the SWEPCO Bright Ideas Demonstration Theatre. The coil arrived and staff were trained in its safe use on September 15 and 16.
Sci-Port Executive Director Dianne Clark said, “We are grateful to everyone involved for helping us spark curiosity and ignite learning in such a powerful way. This Tesla Coil will allow us to bring science to life for our community in a dramatic and unforgettable way.”
The coil was made possible by Richard Welsey Mathias of the Tesla Coil Museum Exhibit Program, Robert E. Nelson, P.E., and Justin Hays of Pyrotrons.
