Montclair district jewelers’ employees pepper-sprayed during Sunday morning robbery

(BCN) — Oakland police are investigating a Montclair jewelry store robbery from Sunday morning in which employees were allegedly pepper-sprayed by the suspects. At about 11:15 a.m., officers were sent to the shop on the 2000 block of Mountain Boulevard where multiple people armed with hammers allegedly broke display cases and took jewelry before fleeing in a vehicle, police said Monday.

In a social media post, Aster Jewelers said they were shaken by the robbery, but nobody was seriously hurt.

“We’ve got burning eyes from pepper spray, smashed cases, and stolen jewelry,” the post reads. “We’re also grateful that while parts of our inventory were taken, no customer repairs or personal jewelry was stolen.”

Anyone with information can call the Oakland police Robbery Unit at (510) 238-3326. People can send photos and videos to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov.
