Saturday, amidst the excitement and exhibition of the fair the oldest and quietest corner of the Baxter County Fairgrounds will be the site of a special presentation. The Casey House, which is the oldest standing home in Baxter County, will feature Baxter County Historian and host of KTLO’s Retracing Our Roots, Vincent Anderson, Saturday at 5. The history of the man who built the house and the lasting legacy of the
property will be discussed and tours will be open to visitors.
Although the site seems out of place today amongst the sprawling neighborhood, Anderson says the single story dog run style house was instrumental in the early formation of the area we call Mountain Home today.
Listen:
The Baxter County Historical Society and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans (SCV) will man the home during this year’s fair instead of having a booth in the commercial building as in years past. As a historian, Anderson sees the importance of the work of the society to preserve and present the site to visitors of all ages.

Those attending the talk Saturday evening can look forward to some bonus content from the local historian.
