SEPTA gets ready to reverse service cuts

(WPHL) — SEPTA is posting new schedules as it gets ready to reverse all service cuts.

The transit agency is putting a printed version of its schedule in select stations and posting them online.

SEPTA says all paused bus and rail services are expected to be back by Sunday. However, riders should expect a 21.5% fare hike to take effect the same day. The new base fare for Bus and Metro will be $2.90.

The reversal comes after a court order required SEPTA to restore service and halt future cuts.

Earlier this week, PennDOT approved SEPTA’s request to use $394 million in project money to support its budget deficit. Currently, SEPTA has not secured additional state funding, as the state budget has not been passed yet in Harrisburg. The state budget was due on July 1. In a news release, SEPTA warned that the request is a one-time fix and not a long-term solution to transit funding.
