Qvest Upgrades Bahrain TV’s Media Archive System For Ministry Of Information

Bahrain TV’s media archiving system has been modernized with a new platform implemented by Qvest, a global media services company, to improve productivity and create scalable, efficient workflows without disrupting live broadcasts.

Qvest led the full integration for the Ministry of Information, the operator of Bahrain TV. The upgraded system features a fully integrated media asset management (MAM) workflow using the latest media capture, transcoding and storage technologies that handle large media files. The platform supports Arabic characters throughout the interface and metadata fields.

Engineer Abdulla Ahmed Al Balooshi, assistant undersecretary of the technical affairs directorate, said the new system “has significantly improved our teams’ productivity and offers a state-of-the-art environment that promotes creativity and collaboration. The cooperation with Qvest and the partners went smoothly.”

Key components include the Avid Media Asset Management System on the Avid MediaCentral platform, offering a unified web interface for accessing media and production tools. The Spectra Stack Library upgrade improves storage efficiency and scalability. The Telestream Kumulate system, operated through the Avid MAM, performs archiving, restoration and partial restoration tasks.

The transition included metadata migration and integration with existing production and news systems, including tape and ingest workflows, without interrupting operations. Support for Arabic-language metadata enhances accessibility for local staff.

The system also features high-capacity Avid Nexis storage with 240 terabytes per engine, scalable to meet growing demands. Integration with Adobe Premiere Pro via the MediaCentral Panel enables seamless editing. Multiple users can access the system simultaneously, using advanced search to speed content retrieval and collaboration.

Philipp Glänzel, managing director of Qvest MENA, said: “Our goal was to create an exceptional working environment reflecting Bahrain TV’s core values and production standards while fostering a positive atmosphere among the staff. We are pleased with the trusted and successful partnership with the Ministry of Information.”
