The practice, led by first-year head coach Cody Champagne, saw Bulldog fans supporting the team by donating cases of water and sports drinks.
“I mean, you know, hydration is key,” said wide receiver Braylon Calais. “You know, down here in south Louisiana, you know, it gets real hot. Like the first two days, Monday and Tuesday, was the hot days, and we just put pads back on. So those are hot. But, you know, hydration is key. You know, keeps us all rolling.”
Champagne expressed gratitude for the community’s support.
“Man, you know, like even though you don’t have a lot of people in the stands because of the rain, you know, people dropping off water. I mean, our community is great, man. You know, from raising money to just showing out for the kids, they’re awesome.” Champagne said.
Last year’s hydration day supplies nearly lasted the entire season, highlighting the effectiveness of the community’s contributions. The Bulldogs are set to open their season on Sept. 5 at St. Martinville, with high hopes of another successful year on the football field.
