Friday temperatures: Today began with lows in the middle 70s and will likely end with highs in the upper 90s. We will see pretty much the same thing on Friday. Lows over most of the area will be in the low to middle 70s. Daytime highs will likely return to the upper 90s with a few areas possibly hitting 100 degrees.
Dry weather continues: Upper-level high pressure will maintain its grip on our weather and prevent any of the typical summertime afternoon storms from developing. Expect a clear to partly cloudy sky on Thursday night and a mix of sunshine and clouds on Friday. We will see similar weather during the weekend. A small chance of rain could return on Monday and Tuesday, but if we get rain, it likely won’t be much.
Long-range outlook: The upper ridge will weaken slightly this weekend and early next week. That will allow the heat to ease as daytime highs will retreat to the middle 90s. The ridge will likely strengthen again late next week with temperatures warming back into the mid to upper 90s. Much of the ArkLaTex will stay dry during the next 10 days. We could see a slight chance of rain by the end of the week.
