Chris Jent joining New York Knicks after winning Summer League with Hornets

CHARLOTTE (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — One month after leading the Charlotte Hornets to a Summer League title, assistant coach Chris Jent is leaving Buzz City.

CSL confirmed that the New York Knicks have agreed to sign Jent to be the team’s new associate head coach under new head coach Mike Brown.

Jent was also on Brown’s staff in Cleveland from 2006-2010, and stayed on an extra year after Brown left in 2011. As a player, Jent played in New York for one season from 1996-97.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, Jent will be the team’s offensive coordinator under Brown.

In 2024-25, the Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years, and have big expectations to make it to the NBA Finals in 2026.
