Rep. Fairly announces Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program

AUSTIN, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Office of Representative Caroline Fairly announced that applications for the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program are open.

Representative Fairly said her office is accepting applications for the TASSP for the 2025-2026 academic year. The scholarship offers eligible students up to $30,000 per year for up to four academic years to attend the Texas College or university of their choice, said officials.

Officials said the scholarship looks to support Texas students who are pursuing military service through college-level training programs.

“Texas has a long tradition of service and sacrifice to our nation, and we are proud to invest in the next generation of military leaders,” said Rep. Fairly. “This scholarship is not only a powerful educational opportunity, it’s a way to honor the commitment of students who are choosing a path of service to our country.”

Fairly’s office said to be considered for a TASSP nomination from Rep. Fairly, a student must meet two of the following four academic criteria at the time of application:

  • Be on track to graduate or have graduated from high school under the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan or the International Baccalaureate Program (IB);
  • Have earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale;
  • Have scored at least 1070 on the SAT or 23 on the ACT;
  • Be ranked in the top one-third of their high school graduating class.

Officials said the application deadline is Sept. 1. Students and families who are interested can find eligibility details on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s website. Students who reside in House District 87 and who are interested in being nominated by Rep. Fairly can contact her Capitol office at caroline.fairly@house.texas.gov for more information.
