Central Louisiana College exceeds graduation target by 32%

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) — Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) has once again surpassed its annual credentialing goal, marking the fourth consecutive year of exceeding expectations under the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s Reaching Prosperity by 2030 initiative.

For the 2024–25 academic year, CLTCC set a goal of 2,008 credentialed graduates. The college surpassed that benchmark by 641, a 32% increase, bringing the total to 2,649 completers. These include students earning degrees, diplomas, and industry-based certifications through both credit and non-credit programs.

“CLTCC is proud to play a leading role in transforming Central Louisiana through education, training, and workforce development,” said Chancellor Dr. Jimmy Sawtelle. “Thanks to consistent growth and a strong commitment to quality instruction, the college continues to expand its impact across the region.”

The Reaching Prosperity by 2030 initiative, launched in 2022, is a statewide plan aiming to credential 330,000 individuals across Louisiana’s 12 community and technical colleges by the year 2030. The initiative also emphasizes preparing students for high-demand, high-wage “Star Jobs,” as designated by the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

From 2022 to 2025, CLTCC has awarded a total of 9,434 credentials—23% above its cumulative target for that period.

“These are students earning credentials for significant, life-changing careers,” Sawtelle said. “Many are completing programs aligned with top-tier job opportunities in the state’s most critical industries.”

One recent example includes the college’s Allied Health programs, which graduated a record-breaking 400 students in just 400 days—a milestone CLTCC says underscores its commitment to meeting Central Louisiana’s most urgent workforce needs.
