Stolen car found in Springfield with gun and ammo inside, teenager arrested
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An 18-year-old from Springfield was arrested after officers located a stolen vehicle on Walnut Street.

The Springfield Police Department states that at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, members of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center (R-TAC) told officers that they observed a stolen vehicle on the 200 block of Hancock Street.  

Officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle in a driveway on the 100 block of Walnut Street. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver was identified as 18-year-old Hussein Mohamed of Springfield. Officers arrested Mohamed and the passenger was later released.

As officers searched the vehicle, a firearm, loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and capable of holding 15 rounds, was found. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Somers, Connecticut.

18-year-old Hussein Mohamed of Springfield is charged with:

  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
  • Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
