Pattern of fires? Wetzel County authorities note possible arson after third car goes up in flames
NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va. (WTRF) — New Martinsville saw another car fire Sunday night, the third reported in just under a week.

Police and emergency crews responded to a blaze at Jackson’s impound lot, where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to knock it down quickly.

With multiple fires happening in such a short span, investigators are now considering the possibility of arson.

Authorities have not yet confirmed a connection between the incidents, but the frequency and similarity of the fires are prompting further scrutiny. The most recent fire occurred just after dark, drawing a swift response from local fire units and law enforcement. No injuries have been reported.

Jackson’s impound lot has not released a statement, and it is unclear whether the vehicle involved had been stored there long-term or was recently towed.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the recent fires to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to local police or the state fire marshal’s office.

As of now, the cause of each fire remains under investigation.
