St. Landry Parish search for attempted murder suspect
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) — Deputies ask the public for assistance in capturing Overton O. Roberts, 44, of Arnaudville.

According to deputies, Overton is charged with attempted second degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and domestic abuse battery.

On Tuesday night, deputies responded to a shooting in progress on Pleasant Run Road near Opelousas and were informed that a female victim was allegedly shot in the head by her husband, deputies said.

Upon their arrival, officers said they learned the suspect, Roberts, had allegedly left in a white Chrysler 300 sedan and discarded the pistol used in the grass prior to leaving the scene.

“We believe Roberts to be on the run, and desperately ask the public for any assistance in his capture or his peaceful surrender.” Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said. “Our last information has the victim in intensive care and stable.  We offer our prayers to the family and victim.”

Anyone with additional information about this crime is asked to call the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-948-6516.
