Kicking off the golf season at Beaver Meadow with spring weather

The first week of the season at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, which opened on April 10, felt a lot more like summer than it did spring.

As is always the case this time of year, the warmth returned faster than a slice across the fairway. Despite colder temperatures and overnight frost this week, golfers like Dan Weldon of Pembroke were eager to get out on the links.

Some of the conditions at the city-owned course are different this year as construction crews work on a new $6 million clubhouse.

Construction is estimated to be complete in late winter/early spring of 2027. Once the new building opens, the existing building, which dates back to 1967, will be demolished. By the summer of 2027, all finish work and grading should be complete, city officials have said.
