The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 44-year-old Adan Ochoa of Reedley. Ochoa was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Sanger.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol and deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office found Ochoa on the south shoulder of Jensen Avenue, east of Del Rey Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, CHP reports he was found dead.
Law enforcement says that, based on evidence recovered at the scene, it was determined that the suspect vehicle was likely a dark gray metallic Toyota Avalon with damage to the right front area.
Officers say community members also provided valuable tips that helped identify a possible suspect vehicle and residence. At this time, CHP says the identity of the suspect is being withheld pending further investigation and forensic analysis.
The California Highway Patrol is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information related to the fatal hit-and-run crash to contact them at 559-262-0400.
