Extreme heat the main worry this week
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A big dome of upper-level high pressure will bring some of the hottest temperatures of the summer so far to parts of the ArkLaTex during the middle of this week.  This heat will ease later this week as some hope of rain returns with no severe weather.

Extreme heat the main worry this week 1

Heat worries?  Temperatures will likely be at or above 100 degrees for the next few days.  This combination of heat and humidity will result in the heat index possibly surpassing 110.  That may prompt the National Weather Service to upgrade our recent heat advisories to an Extreme Heat Warning.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Severe weather worries?  We will see the chance for some widely scattered showers and thunderstorms to return to the ArkLaTex late this week and this weekend.  Severe weather is again looking doubtful, but a few storms could produce some gusty winds.  The model that handled last week’s rain the best is indicating that an inch of rain could be possible anywhere in the ArkLaTex!

Extreme heat the main worry this week 2

Tropical worries?  The National Hurricane Center indicates that we will likely not see any tropical development in the Gulf or Atlantic during the next week.  Some models are hinting that we could see tropical activity pick up in the Atlantic during the second week of August.
