Drainage upgrades coming to South Bossier’s Lucky Estates neighborhood

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Bossier Parish Police Jury is moving forward with drainage improvements in the Lucky Estates neighborhood after the jury approved plans at their meeting on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

This project is the result of a drainage study commissioned in 2011, which identified key vulnerabilities in the neighborhood’s stormwater infrastructure.

The project has received a major boost through $1.1 million in federal funding from the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

The project will focus on these key areas: the Summer Lake Outfall at Red Chute Bayou and drainage upgrades at Lucky Lane and Flat River Road. Improvements include enhancing water flow systems and upgrading culverts to reduce flooding in yards and streets.

The goal is to reduce the risk of flooding for about 130 homes in the area.
