According to an affidavit, Baton Rouge police began investigating a 55-year-old man for alleged sexual misconduct involving a 14-year-old girl.
During the investigation, officers responded to a call in the 1600 block of Stilt Street about a disturbance on May 27, 2025. When they arrived, officers spoke with the complainant, who reported being assaulted by her neighbor, who was later identified as Anthony McManus. The complainant said the fight stemmed from a confrontation between her and McManus about her 14-year-old daughter.
The mother accused McManus of sending her daughter inappropriate messages, including requesting sex in exchange for money. During the confrontation, McManus punched the mother in the face multiple times, leaving her with bruises and a busted lip.
The investigation confirmed that McManus was texting the 14-year-old “specific and overt” messages for about two weeks consistently.
According to the affidavit, the 14-year-old blocked McManus from texting and calling, but he changed his number and continued to contact the victim.
McManus was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of indecent behavior with juveniles, simple battery, and computer-aided solicitation of a minor. He has a bond set at $30,000, according to jail records.
