It’s for areas hit hard by recent severe storms and flooding.
“Great news, Kentucky— I just got off the phone with @potus, who called to say he has personally approved public assistance for counties affected by the April flooding and May tornadoes,” Gov. Andy Beshear wrote on July 22. “This support is essential to helping these communities rebuild, and I am grateful to the President and @SecNoem. I also told @POTUS that the @FEMA team members on the ground are doing great work supporting Kentuckians. We will provide more details soon.”
The declaration means money will be available to help communities rebuild, covering costs for emergency work, repairs, and temporary housing.
Governors from the states requested the aid after powerful storms swept through last month, downing trees, damaging homes, and leaving thousands without power.
FEMA assistance is now available to both local governments and select individuals, providing much-needed relief to storm survivors across the region.
