Man arrested after allegedly setting fire to victim’s tent during argument on Far North Side

CHICAGO — A man is recovering in the hospital on Tuesday morning after officers say someone set fire to his tent during an argument on the city’s Far North Side early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident unfolded just before 12:30 a.m. after an argument broke out between two men in the 4500 block of North Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable Lake Shore Drive in Uptown.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, told police that the fire started after he got into an argument with a 64-year-old man in the area.

During the argument, police said the 64-year-old man allegedly lit a match and set fire to the victim’s tent.

Amid the flames, officers said the victim suffered burns to his right hand. He was later taken to the hospital where he was listed in good condition.,

According to police, the suspect was known to the victim; however, specific details about their relationship are unclear.

An investigation into the incident is now underway, and charges against the 64-year-old man are currently pending.
