Police search for driver after woman injured in West Side hit-and-run
CHICAGO — Authorities in Chicago are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a woman seriously injured on Monday night on the West Side.

Chicago police say the crash unfolded just before 11 p.m. in the 500 block of North Pulaski Road, in Humboldt Park.

According to police, the victim, a 58-year-old woman, was on Pulaski, walking along the side of the street, when she was struck by a southbound driver traveling in a red SUV.

Following the crash, the driver fled the scene.

Officers said the woman suffered trauma to her body and was later hospitalized in serious condition.

A search is now underway for the individual responsible.

On Tuesday morning, officers shared photos captured by surveillance cameras of the vehicle believed to have been involved.

Police say they believe the vehicle was a 2002 Maroon GMC SUV, which may have been a Yukon XL, with tinted windows throughout.

Additionally, officers say they believe the vehicle had an Illinois license plate with the tag number DR60795.

Given that the vehicle was involved in a crash, officers said it may also have front-end damage.
