Statesville man arrested after cyber tip leads to discovery of child pornography

STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the possible downloading and possession of child pornography by a person in Iredell County.

The suspect was identified as William Leon Allen, 40, of Statesville.

As part of the investigation, detectives executed search warrants on social media apps and websites. The evidence gathered from these search warrants determined that Allen had sent and received photographs and videos of child pornography using social media.

Detectives also seized evidence from the home, including electronic devices that could possibly be used to store child sexual abuse material.

Allen was arrested and charged with 10 counts of Felony Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say additional charges may be coming.
