Charge dropped for doctor accused of inappropriate conduct with patients

JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) — A sexual battery charge against a Jeff Davis Parish surgeon has been dismissed, court records show.

Dr. Bahman “Ben” Sabbaghian was accused by multiple patients of sexual assault, and was indicted in Jeff Davis Parish on one count of misdemeanor sexual battery in February.

Under Louisiana law, misdemeanor sexual battery is the intentional touching of a person`s breasts or buttocks without their consent. A conviction can bring a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to six months in prison.

The notice of dismissal was signed Monday by Asst. District Attorney Torrie Thibodeaux in the 31st Judicial District Court. No reason was given for the dismissal.
