FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Families found ways to stay cool as the region dealt with another day of excessively hot temperatures.
“It never gets too cold for me to walk outside,” Patricia Flora, of Fairfax, said.
She and others took their steps inside Fair Oaks Mall.
“I’m a people watcher. So that’s kind of fun to do. And to see little kids and to see the moms, what they’re dealing with reminds us of what we all did,” Flora said.
The stroll also gave walkers a chance to take in the sights.
“It’s fun looking around to see what’s still here and what’s not. And it’s funny. You still meet the same people,” Carol Cunningham, of Fairfax, said.
Luckily, mall visitors had a lot to explore, as the hot weather can cause some delays getting around the region.
Metrorail reminds passengers of possible delays with its outdoor trains because the high heat could expand the tracks.
Morgan Sellers, of Port Royal, Va., said she rode the train to the Vienna-Fairfax-GMU Metro Station on her way home from Florida.
“I could hear some stuff when I was riding,” she said.
Metrorail reported no delays due to the heat.
