Man dead following Chalmette motel shooting

CHALMETTE, La. (WGNO) — A man is dead following a shooting at a Chalmette motel.

According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, at 10:58 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 deputies were alerted of a shooting in the 5300 block of Paris Road.

Upon arrival, a man was found in a motel room suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through an investigation, detectives learned there was an argument between the victim and his wife that led to a physical fight.

During the incident his 16-year-old son allegedly retrieved a gun and fired it multiple times striking and killing his dad.

Deputies reported no other injuries and that the teen is currently not facing any charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
