NOTE: This article is now an almanac of Thursday’s weather. We have published a new weather story for Friday.
The new month of May kicked off with highly variable conditions across the area. There were downpours one minute and brief mixed sunshine the next, taking us on a wild weather ride.
While high temperatures for most of the area were modestly above normal, the lone exception was far northern sections that sat just north of a low pressure system which encouraged a north/northwest wind keeping things on the cool side. The precise location of the low pressure resulted in a 17 degree range from the warmest and coolest area temperatures.
Official city rainfall totals were nothing to write home about but other locations were swamped by soaking rainfall that exceeded 1.00 inch in some areas.
Grass and tree problem continue to cause major issues for allergy sufferers, while there was a slight decline in the mold count.
