Wake-Up Weather: storms picking up where they left off last week

Monday, April 28th, 2025

Summary: Starting off the week humid, warm and breezy with overcast skies and a few morning sprinkles. Don’t panic if you forgot the rain gear this morning, storms this evening ramp up heading into the evening hours with storms clustering up and pushing east by late tonight. Winds out of the south bring an increase in moisture, a cold front and dry-line will offer lift, with enough spin in the atmosphere due to some shear that will increase overnight keeping the threat of severe storms possible. There will be a weak cap in place that will be overtaken with enough daytime heating. Heading into Tuesday we could be looking at squall-line activity meaning more of a wind, hail and isolated spin-up threat with a chance at flooding to the northeast. Rain chances increase for the heartland but decrease briefly into Thursday or (May) before picking back up into the weekend.

Today: Mostly cloudy, humid, mild with skies partly clearing with showers and thunderstorms later this evening. High Temperature: 88° Winds: S 15 G 30 MPH

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms pushing east leaving behind mostly cloudy skies. Low Temperature: 66° Winds: SSE 10-15 G 20 MPH
