Two Brown County schools mourn loss of students over the weekend
BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Two Brown County school districts are mourning the unexpected loss of two students over the weekend.

Blanket ISD announced the death of student Joshlyn Wilkins Saturday and Zephyr announced the death of student Jayden Gowin Sunday.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wilkins’ and Gowins’ deaths are not criminal and not related to each other.

In letters announcing each of the losses, Blanket and Zephyr ISDs ask,”students and community members refrain from spreading potential misinformation, as that can be deeply hurtful and unfair [to the victims’ loved ones]”

Both school districts have extra counseling and mental health resources available to anyone impacted who may need help coping with the tragic loss of Wilkins or Gowin over the next several days and weeks.
