(KRON) — The body of 74-year-old Clifford Souza, who was missing since April 23, was found inside a truck submerged in the Russian River off Highway 1 in Sonoma County Saturday.
The California Highway Patrol responded to Highway 1, north of Highway 116, at 2:31 p.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle submerged in the river with a body inside.

“Sonoma Sheriff Deputies and family confirmed the driver as Clifford Souza, 74, who had been reported missing on April 23,” the CHP said. “Details of the crash including when the crash occurred remains under investigation.”
Although the investigation is ongoing, authorities believe Souza’s Ford Ranger was traveling on Highway 1 when the truck veered off the roadway and into the river. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Santa Rosa CHP office.
