Firefighters were called to the Ridley Avenue residence at about 12:38 p.m., according to Santa Rosa Fire Department Interim Fire Marshal Kemplen Robbins, who said the cause was still being investigated and damage was estimated at about $200,000. The displaced were being assisted by the Red Cross of Northern California.
Firefighters also responded to a fire at a vacant two-story, multi-family residence in the 800 block of Fourth Street in Santa Rosa at about 2 p.m. There were no injuries in that blaze, and a search confirmed nobody was inside at the time, according to a news release from the department.
The cause was also under investigation as of Saturday afternoon, according to Robbins, who estimated damage at about $600,000. The department’s statement said the fire was contained in about 20 minutes and was prevented from spreading to other structures.
