St. Charles Avenue streetcar disrupted due to repaving project

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The St. Charles Avenue streetcar service will be disrupted as a repaving project begins in the area on April 14, continuing through to the end of May.

According to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, the work will be underway for a St. Charles Avenue as well as a portion of Carondelet Street, between Poydras and Canal streets. It will involve concrete being poured between and adjacent to the streetcar tracks.

The project is meant to enhance the longevity and reliability of the streetcar line.

As construction is underway, RTA officials said the streetcar service will end at Erato Street, and a bus shuttle will be in place between Erato and Canal streets so that riders can complete their trips.

For more information, riders can download the Le Pass app, visit the RTA’s website or call the Rideline at 504-248-3900.
