Louisville fugitive found stuck in house’s ductwork

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Louisville fugitive was arrested on Wednesday when authorities said he was found hiding in a home’s ductwork.

According to court documents, Michael McWhorter, 52, was arrested in May 2024 after he allegedly told someone he was going to cut their head off with a machete and was released on a $2,500 bond.

Records show that McWhorter reportedly stopped attending court hearings in February 2025. Since he’s been wanted on third-degree terroristic threatening, a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and other traffic charges.

On Wednesday, April 9, Louisville metro police located McWhorter at a home in the 2000 block of St. Xavier Street. The fugitive unit reportedly notified SWAT, who responded to the Portland neighborhood home around 3:42 p.m.

After a few hours of searching, officers said he “was hiding so well in the house that he got himself stuck in the home’s ductwork.” SWAT reportedly moved in, pulled him out, and placed him under arrest.

“Shout out our Fugitive, SWAT and K-9 Units, who consistently go after the most violent offenders in Louisville,” Louisville metro police wrote in a press release.

McWhorter was lodged in the Louisville Metro Detention Center on third-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, no registration plates, and failed or improper signal charges.

He’s set to be arraigned on Friday, April 10.
